3.0 Principle for drawing a revolution surface

A revolution surface is a surface created by the rotation of a profile around an axis.

Example of a revolution surface.

In the CAD module, click on "new file" *For this example, use the dimension parameters of the default blank. Create a new window and arrange the screen as on the following view attributing the "perspective" view to the smallest window. Activate the "realistic rendering" on the " XY " view.

Draw a curve like that in the example below.

Select this curve which will be the profile of the surface.

Click on the icon: " surface "    then : " revolution surface "

The following window offers to give you the profile's angle of revolution around the axis.

Leave the default value of 180° and click on " OK "

Click two points on the axis of the " X " to indicate the axis around which the profile that will create the surface will turn. (For this example, make a horizontal axis at the level of the lowest point of the profile.)

Once the second point is validated the surface is calculated. The rotation is in the trigonometric direction (anti-clockwise).

You can create a revolution surface around the " Z " axis. To do this, just create a rotation point in the place of a rotation axis. To creat a point, just click once, then click on the right button of the mouse.
