9.0 CAM GRAAL 3D 29.1
Examples of 3D machining.
To help you use CM GRAAL 3D, we propose that
you carry out the machining paths of the 3D files that you have made in
the CAD module.
9.2 First exercise: Plate
In the CAD module, open the file of the plate
that you have normally named: " Ex5.CAO "
For this first exercise, you will use the blank
size automatic calculation function.
As you are going to make this recessed
machining, it is advisable to limit the area to be machined to the outside
contour of the plate, using the function " extract the edges ".
As this function will extract all the edges of
the surface, it is advisable to delete those that are not on the outer
edge. To do this, you will place them on a different plane taking care
that no object is selected.
Click on " property " and in the tab
" drawing ", choose " plane 2 ".
Select the surface of the plate.
Click on: " extract the edges " of
the " tools " menu.
Then deactivate the " drawing " plane
where the surface is and on the visible plane2, delete all the entities
except the outer circle.
Then reactivate the " drawing " plane
and check that after a global selection, there are only two objects (the
surface and the outer contour).

Save then click on the icon " FAO3D
".
You can use the material you wish to carry out
this machining. For this example, we will take Labellite foam.
Choose the material: " Labellite foam
".
Click on: " automatic reframing ".
Validate by: " OK ".
You will find your drawing in the CAM module
integrated into the blank and in perspective.

Select the surface as well as the line contour
using the " select all " function or the shortcut " space
bar ".Click on " describe the machining " of the contextual
menu.
In the first window click on : preform +
finishing.

Choose in the following window the preform tool
: N°17 end mill 2 flutes of 6, long.
Then the definition tool : N° 19 ball end mill
of 6.

In the following window choose the automatic
preform strategy and click on:
" next ".
In the following window, choose a manual
finishing strategy and click on: «next ".

In the following window (manual finishing
parameters), you will choose a strategy of concentric machining, with a
crosswise restart in automatic mode. You will also give the actual surface
a value of crest height and tolerance of 0.03 mm.
Then click on " next ".

The following window asks you to display or not
the additional parameters. If this window does not appear, it is because
it is deactivated; in this case, you must go into the " Preference
" sub-menu of the " Display " menu then choose the tab
" Advanced " then the button " Global ", and finally
you must select the function " Show the dialogue box : advanced
parameters ".
Click on " show the additional parameters
" then on " next ".
In the following window, click on: "
activate the area to be machined " and choose " interior "
then click on " next " which will launch the calculation.

The following window gives you the machining
values in Preform and in Finishing with the estimated machining times.
Click on finish to display the toolpaths.

Before tooling the plate by the usual method,
you can visualise and print the machining report which recalls for you the
strategies and values of machining used; it is also advisable to make a
simulation.
Attention: when you launch the machining, the
thickness of the blank that will be displayed in the driver will be the
one calculated by the automatic reframing i.e. about: 25.56 mm ; you will
have to enter instead of this value the actual thickness of the blank you
are using.
